Site analysis. |
As the distinctive communities of Fergus and Elora, Ontario
grow closer together a designed plan for the meeting point becomes more
important. This site which currently houses the county archives is to become a
municipal campus with hospital, police dispatch, government offices, assisted
living facilities and other services.
Our design accommodated all proposed services in addition to
low income housing to help populate the site while preserving the rural
character, existing forest cover and hiking trails. Services were positioned so
as to make them accessible as well as attractive spaces for community use. A
therapeutic garden was added to the proposed hospital design to take advantage
of its natural setting and aid in patient’s recovery.
