Design portfolio

Welcome to my online portfolio! Currently there is a collection of design projects to be found here that are studio designs from my three years studying for a Masters in landscape architecture at the University of Guelph. Individual designs may be found each on their own tab above. As well, my resume and a link to my MLA thesis can be found each on their own tab. As I continue to develop as a landscape architect and consciously evolve as a person I will upload new work and design.

My upbringing and past pursuits have had a profound influence on the way that I approach design. In all my work I strive to create simple beauty which highlights the spirit of a place. I am strongly guided by my passion for environmental and cultural conservation and I bring that commitment to each new project.

As a designer I enjoy working in an environment which fosters creativity and collaboration some of my best work has come from working in groups and bouncing ideas off each other. The studio environment in university was a huge blessing and I was very fortunate to study with a group of such amazing people coming from very diverse backgrounds.

My natural inclination is to design by hand as I enjoy drawing and have done it all my life, but I am also experienced using the modern tools of the trade from the Adobe suite, to Autocad and SketchUp. There is a lot I could still learn about all these programs and others but I love learning new skills and I pick them up quickly.

What I love most about design and particularly designing with landscape is the partnership between the designer and the medium. There is no mastery of one over the other, a landscape cannot be forced to remain static and reflect one vision. Instead we must design for change, allow for change and ultimately accept change. Life is change, living is movement, happiness is embracing that.

Thank you for stopping by, stay a while and look around, I hope you like what you see! I can be reached at spiritpinedesign@gmail.com

Happy gardening,
